Culture and heritage

The history of Malta goes back many many years its seen in the beautiful buildings, which includes that

16th century masterpiece the Grandmasters Palace, it is now used as the parliament building and the National

Museum of Fine Arts, offering art from the early Renaissance up to the present day.

In recent times, Malta has become what is dubbed by the London Times the Mediterranean’s mini-Hollywood.

TV series and films are being made there on a regularly, which include Hollywood blockbusters and even

sitcoms and soaps such as Coronation Street. So it makes it quite possible to bump into the stars while on

holiday in Malta.

Malta offers plenty in the way of sports activities including excellent swimming pools,

In Malta the cuisine is a blend from several civilisations who have occupied the islands over the

years. This gives an original taste to the fish and meat dishes served in the many speciality restaurants

dotted all over the islands. Make sure you try the local dishes they are exquisite, but make sure you also enjoy

the international food while trying the best wines.

There is always events going on in Malta, such as the various music and cultural festivals held during the

year. There are many great clubs and bars, trendy restaurants and wine bars. There are also theatres, cinemas

and casinos offering a range of fun entertainment.

Republic of Malta is composed of the native Maltese people. With there being a small community of the British

in the country. Malta recognises two official languages, Maltese and English. The other languages spoken

include German, Italian, Spanish and French.
